The Fabulous 50s - 1957 - Over Easy - 26586 PRICE: £3.99
Whilst Rock'N'Roll almost dominated the charts in 1957, the rockers did not have it all their own way. In fact, Paul Anka's Diana was that year's top selling single in the US and UK. This collection of easy hits and classics from that year contains no less than 10 tracks that reached number 1 in the UK or the US (3 of which were chart toppers in both countries) Some home grown artists such as Frankie Vaughan and David Whitfield continued to have successes at home whilst Johnny Mathis, who was becoming a major musical force in America, failed to gain popularity in the UK until later in his career.

Rock 'n' Roll Diner - 1957 - 38281 Double CD PRICE £4.99
The movie The Last Picture Show, set in 1951, focused on the social changes in a small Texas town as teenagers drifted away to serve in Korea or to confront adulthood in the cities, accompanied by the popular music of the time. In their local diner the friends listened to the country laments of Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell and Pee Wee King. Rock'n'Roll soon revolutionized the aural landscape in 1956, and by the following year a typical diner's repertoire would have sounded much like the contents of this explosive 2CD set. Featuring 8 No1's this double CD features all the Rock'n'Roll hits of 1957. Fifty years on, now from what really does in hindsight appear to have been a golden age, the sheer exuberance of this music retains all its irresistible appeal.
