Breakthrough powers ahead and we're getting highly excited about October's winners! They are Long Time Dead who are an absolutely top-notch blues-rock band from Bournemouth and Poole . In lead vocalist Emma Hardy they have a truly awesome singer—full of soul and passion and as loud as Janis Joplin.

They're a busy band with an excellent gig history and give great value as a live act. For our part, we're so pleased to have another “musical variation” as our winning band (blues rock) which only goes to show the great variety and depth of talent that exists across our broadcast area.

The rest of the band—Merylina on lead guitar, Mart on guitars, Sean on drums and Lee on bass—are a tight-knit unit that provide great support to the vocals—and some blistering guitar-work too.

BREAKTHROUGH artist for August 2008 was Andrea Soler

Andrea

Describing her vocal style is a simple matter – with a fantastic Australian lilt to some of her songs, the words that most come to mind are “seductive” and “breathtaking”. It’s fair to describe her music as indie-folk, but within that, you’ll find a range of other styles too – roots and reggae for example – all wrapped up in her terrific and confident performing manner. We know she’s going to be a big hit with our growing legion of followers!

The gig – SATURDAY APRIL 16th – promises to be fantastic evening: we’re really lucky to have Lou Brown on the bill as well (Lou won our Breakthrough Award in February, has since gone on a US tour and been invited to play at The Tivoli in Wimborne) plus that great local duo, The Douglas Firs. So, for the summer it’ll be an all-acoustic affair – but one that you won’t want to miss – so tell all your friends and join us for what promises to be a rather fantastic night out.
